Setup

Assumptions

Before you begin your journey as a developer using IBM Verified Credentials, you need to setup your developer environment.

For starters, it is recommended that you prepare your account and explore our live demo environment.

Account Preparation

Login to your account. Your agency account dashboard will look similar to the following:

AgencyAccountDashboard

Initially you will have a single agent with the name which you provided when creating your account. In the example above, the name of the agent is admin.

Environment Variables

  1. Click on first agent tile (admin in the example above) and you will see agent detail information similar to the following:

AgencyDetails

  1. Click on the Add device button and then the Manual Entry tab on the Register Device pane. You will see your Agent Name and Agent Password.
  2. Set the following environment variables:
export URL=<account-URL>
export USERPASS=<agent-name>:<agent-pass>

where:

  • <account-URL> is the URL in your browser (without the path). For example, the URL in your browser will be similar to https://<big-number>.staging-cloud-agents.us-east.containers.appdomain.cloud/app/agent/TpB46YBFAEatGNhxsLCMLK/general which means the <account-URL> is https://<big-number>.staging-cloud-agents.us-east.containers.appdomain.cloud;
  • <agent-name> is the Agent Name;
  • <agent-pass> is the Agent Password.

These environment variables will be used in the remainder of this tutorial.

Now that your environment is setup, let's get started by creating agents.
